I have been looking for a Nikon D80 dslr camera for about 3 months and finally purchased one a few weeks ago.
I have two Nikon lens 18-135 & 70-300.
I am looking for some cool tips & advice on how to best use this baby!
I am headed to Manhattan Kansas --- aka "the little apple" --- for the next 36 hours and I am excited to post some cool fall foliage pictures on this blog!
Stay tuned ...
Hi Todd, Here's a great website that I've used for our D70 that we love for tips and tricks.(http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech.htm). If you really want to have some fun, look at the "micro-lens". Also, here's some great pics to get you motivated (http://www.kenrockwell.com/gallery.htm). Have fun clicking away and see you on Sunday.

I personally love to take pictures of things up close, very close. I like to get the texture of the object. I set it on Macro setting (I think that's what it is called) it is symbolized by a flower. My understanding is that it allows you to take pictures up way close. I love how they turn out. I like to focus on the details of something. One day when I can catch my breath I plan on making a coffee table book of all my textures: flowers, leaves, rocks, moss, pebbles, clouds, water, basically all of God's creation.
Another tip- If your camera or lens did not come with stabilization in it then invest in a tripod for long shots. My dslr was hot off the line when I bought it several years ago, they did not have them in it back then so a tripod is essential to prevent blurry shots.
Just remember to have fun while doing it!
